PROPOSED RWANDA ONE DAY GORILLA TOUR

One day gorilla tour is designed for clients who are already in Rwanda for other purposes and have no much time but would like a gorilla experience. Gorilla tour takes you to volcanoes national park where the mountain gorilla families are found. The tour begins very early in the morning we leave Kigali at 5:00 am and drive to the Volcanoes national park, the journey takes up to 2 hours. At the park headquarters you will briefly have breakfast before heading out to the where the park guides will conduct a routine briefing. Every group of travelers is allocated a gorilla family to track and as such the gorilla tracking tour will last between two to seven hours depending on allocation of the family to be visited and their movement.
After the gorilla tracking tour you will be driven back to Kigali to your hotel or to the airport for your departure.

PROPOSED FOUR DAYS TOUR

DAY ONE:
Upon your arrival at the airport you will meet our local guide, who will take you to your hotel in Kigali. After you settle in and have lunch, our local guide will take you to our Kigali City tour. You will have the opportunity to visit the Kigali´s Museum of natural history, the Nyabugogo bus station and market, the city center and the Camp Kigali, the site of the massacre of ten Belgian UN peacekeepers during the Genocide. DAY TWO:
This day will start early, 5:00 AM; our tour guide will pick you at your hotel in Kigali and drive you to Akagera National park for the game drive. The drive to Akagera National Park will take between two hours and thirty minutes to three hours. Once at the reception our guide will clear the entrance fees, you will obtain briefings from the Park guides and you can have a cup of coffee before starting a day of Game drive. This morning you will drive from Kigali to Rubavu district (Gisenyi Town), which is at the Rwanda-DR Congo border and is at the shore of Lake Kivu. The drive from Kigali to Rubavu will take three hours and thirty minutes. We will pass via the town of Musanze where you will have a great view of the five volcanoes that are found in North-western Rwanda. DAY FOUR:
After an early breakfast, we will drive to Musanze for Gorilla trekking or any other activity of your choice. Before departure, national park rangers will brief you about the Gorilla family that you will visit or any other activity of your choice. This will take two hours and thirty minutes.  After park registrations and briefings we will start the game drive from the Southern part of the park crossing to the North and after seven to eight hours of game drive we will get out through the northern gate and drive back to Kigali. Today we will drive for three hours from Gisenyi to Karongi district (Kibuye town). Kibuye is another town on the shores of Lake Kivu but like unlike Gisenyi; Kibuye has fewer beaches and more islands and better views of the Lake Kivu. We will have lunch at Kibuye and drive for another two hour to Nyungwe Forest National Park. (Karongi Destination Link)

After breakfast our guide will drive you to Nyungwe national park, Uwinka visitor’s center ready for a canopy walk in the breathtaking Nyungwe Forest National after which you will return to Kigali via a few interesting sites. You will first stop at Huye district (Butare town) where you will visit the National Ethnographic Museum and eat lunch. After driving for another hour from Huye we will stop in Nyanza and visit the King’s Palace Museum. During the final ride from Nyanza to Kigali, your guide will show you some historical sites like the Rock of Kamegeli. You will stay overnight in Kigali. (Nyungwe National Park Link)

Today you will visit Nkora Coffee washing station and learn about coffee.  You can either go to Nkora by road (ninety minutes) or be boat (one hour). After a two hour coffee tour and testing at Nkora we will return for an afternoon at leisure on the shores of Lake Kivu. (Nkora coffee Tour Link)

DAY NINE
Today we will drive for three hours from Gisenyi to Karongi district (Kibuye town). DAY TWELVE
Today you will return to Kigali via a few interesting sites. You will first stop at Huye district (Butare town) where you will visit the National Ethnographic Museum and eat lunch. After driving for another hour from Huye we will stop in Nyanza and visit the King’s Palace Museum. During the final ride from Nyanza to Kigali, your guide will show you some historical sites like the Rock of Kamegeli. You will stay overnight in Kigali.

DAY TWO
Today you will learn about the Tutsi Genocide of 1994 in Rwanda. In the morning you will visit the Kigali Genocide memorial, followed by lunch at the memorial canteen. The Kigali genocide Memorial provides a chronological story of the Genocide from Pre-colonial to the aftermath of the Genocide in 1994. It was constructed ten years after the Genocide and it is also the site of mass graves for more than 259,000 victims who were killed in Kigali and the surrounding areas. Afterwards we will drive to Nyamata Memorial site, about one hour from Kigali. The Nyamata Genocide memorial is a place where Genocide occurred. Prior to the Genocide, the Nyamata memorial was a Roman Catholic Church and during the Genocide more than 10,000 who were seeking refuge were massacred at the same Church.

DAY SEVEN

DAY TEN
After breakfast our guide will drive you to Nyungwe national park through the Kivu belt road on the shores of Lake Kivu. This is the best place in Rwanda for sightseeing and picture taking. The drive will take three hours. After arriving in Nyungwe you will go for a canopy walk in the breathtaking Nyungwe Forest National and you will stay overnight at Nyungwe Top view Hotel at Gisakura. Because most of our clients come to Rwanda with a specific interest, we reserve three days in our 14 days tour so that in advance of your visit, we can organize any activities that are of interest to our clients. These activities can be meetings, workshops, trainings or roundtable discussions with anyone or any group that they would like to meet while in Rwanda. We are available to manage these activities in detail, or let you coordinate with colleagues in country.

DAY EIGHT
After an early breakfast, we will drive to Musanze for Gorilla trekking or any other activity of your choice. DAY ELEVEN
Today you will go chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe forest. You will have an early breakfast and go to the National park office where you will meet park rangers who will brief you about the primates and the forest and then you will start to walk into the forest keeping an eye out for the chimpanzees which are most often found on tree branches. In this trek you are also likely to see many birds and other primates like the white and black Columbus monkeys, Velvet Monkeys, Blue Monkeys and Red Tailed Monkeys, after the chimpanzee trekking you will go back to the hotel for lunch and if the time allows and you are still feeling strong you can go for Kamiranzovu waterfalls trails in the afternoon. The trekking to Kamiranzovu waterfalls takes almost ninety minutes. You will stay the overnight at Nyungwe Top view Hotel at Gisakura.

DAY FOURTEEN
After breakfast you will go for souvenir shopping in Kigali both at the local market as well s at the craft market. You will have lunch and then get back to the hotel where you will pack your luggage’s and get ready for your flight back home. Your local guide will take you to the airport two hours before your flight schedule.
