Rwanda is a small country, with its modern capital, Kigali at the centre. With a population of over 1 million and surrounded by beautiful hills. The city has been the economic, cultural, and transport hub of Rwanda since it became capital at independence in 1962. From here the roads radiate outwards, like the spokes of the wheel, and hence on most Rwanda holidays you will occasionally spend a night here as part of any itinerary.

One of the first thing most people notice is that, particularly for An African city, Kigali is spotlessly clean, this is partly because plastic bags are banned in the country and also because of a universal cleanliness service called Umuganda. Kigali is blessed with a moderately high altitude and a tropical climate due to its location.
