Akagera National Park is located in the north east of Rwanda along the border with Tanzania. Although founded in 1934, much of the park was re-allocated as farms and in 1997 the park was reduced in size from more than 2,500 sq km (nearly 10% of the surface area of Rwanda) to its current extent of 1,122 sq km. Since 2010, a joint venture with African Parks has seen Akagera return to its former glories.
Kanembwe is a village found in Rubavu District. Up to 2009, Kanembwe was a forest that belonged to the Government of Rwanda. Today Kanembwe is a home to more than 1200 families. The first inhabitants of Kanembwe, 300 families who arrived August-September 2009, were re-located by the government to Kanembwe from Nyakiriba and Kanzenze sectors of Rubavu district.

Lake Kivu is one of the great lakes of East Africa, situated between Congo (Kinshasa) to the west and Rwanda to the east. Lying at 4,790 feet (1,460 m) above sea level, it occupies 1,040 square miles (2,700 square km) and is 55 miles (90 km) long (north-south) and 30 miles wide (east-west). From an average depth of 722 feet (220 m), it plunges to a maximum of 1,558 feet (475 m).
Nkora washing station is the biggest washing station in Rwanda with the capacity of 500 metric Tons located at 30KM from Gisenyi in Kigeyo sector of Rutsiro district and is owned by CAFERWA (Cafe du Rwanda in French or Coffee of Rwanda in English) which is a Coffee exporting company started in 1995 with the main objective of exporting coffee to different points of the world.
Covering over 1000 square kilomtres, Nyungwe is surely one of the world’s most beautiful and pristine mountain rainforests. It’s believed to be one of Africa’s oldest forests, staying green even through the Ice Age, which explains its diversity.
Home to habituated chimpanzees and 12 other primates species (including a 400-strong troop of habituated Ruwenzori Black & White Colobus), it’s also a birder’s paradise with over 300 species, including 16 endemics, and is home to 75 different species of mammal.

The National park lies along the Virunga Mountains, with 8 ancient volcanoes, which are shared by Rwanda, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo, five of which are in Rwanda. The park is a central location for exploring some distinctly Rwandan experiences. While a visit to the mountain gorillas is often at the top of visitor, the dramatic landscape also offers thrilling hiking and visits to the fascinating golden monkeys.
